For musicians, reading music is either the easiest or most difficult thing to learn.  This Reading Primer video will show you that reading music notation is not as scary as it seems to be.  You'll be introduced to the different types of music reading as well as an introduction to all the notes in the bass and treble clefs.

In this video, we demonstrate that you can learn and play your favorite melodies with just a few bits of reading knowledge.  Never mind the rhythms; let's get those notes first and start making some beautiful music.

Reading a group of rhythms could be like reading a written word: sometimes you've got to "sound it out".  We'll show you how to breakdown rhythms to learn them separately and independently to get the music off the page and onto your hands.

Having broken down 8th-note rhythms into two beat patterns, Christopher delves into how you can break down simple 16th-note rhythms into smaller "words".

Once you can recognize simple two-bar 8th note rhythms and one-bar 16th note rhythms, you've actually learned a whole bunch of musical "words".  Put these various rhythms into a four-beat measure, and now your musical words become sentences. 

Although many of us think of "sheet music" as a piece of paper with notes and rhythms on it, there are actually many various types of sheet music that you may encounter.  Although we'll go over these more extensively in subsequent videos, this is a great primer to get to know the many different types of sheet music. 

When you get a new piece of sheet music in front of you, it's easy to get intimidated to start learning it.  In this video, we show you the essential things you need to do in order to successfully read your chart.

Once you understand how to play the notes and rhythms on your sheet music, you've got to start playing it in time.  That doesn't mean play it at a steady tempo though!  How can you play something "in time" but NOT at a steady tempo?  Ladies and gentlemen...behold...MOCK TIME!!
